Associates in Art Capstone Exhibition

El Flamboyan, the flame tree, was originally from Madagascar, but as it adapted to the Caribbean
climate, it became symbolic of the island culture in my native Puerto Rico. Like the flame tree, I have
adapted to the Floridian climate, yet I seek to rediscover the beauty de mi isla once more through my
art. In each of the six paintings, elements of deep color are complemented by diagonal lines and texture,
mirroring the complex layers of my culture and history.
