Project Galleries

The entirety of my collegiate career has been spent pursuing intellectual knowledge gathered from my professors and infusing their expertise into the pieces I create; however, it is my childhood of living with nine individuals under one roof that provides ample opportunity to become educated on the experience of being human. Familial relationships are highly valued in my Puerto Rican household and teach me sacrifice and compromise. Although perhaps the most important lesson I learned is how the bond between us proved strong enough to overcome the adversity we faced as we moved to Florida. Through these experiences, I identify the interrelated nature of disciplines within the realm of fine arts. The work I create forges a relationship between the art, the viewer, and the meaning depicted. I know I cannot be a compelling artist by merely studying methods of oil painting, therefore I continue to learn about photographer’s knowledge of arranging interesting compositions and capturing movement; a designer’s comprehension of color theory and human psychology; and even a potter’s grasp on physical mass and visual weight. Using the same determination my parents had in creating a better life for our family, I continue to express the connectivity of all things as I pursue proficiency in various visual mediums.
